This site offers access to video based training resources and general interest programmes, reflecting the issues, challenges and rewards in current social care practice. Social Care Institute of Excellence - The Social Care Institute for Excellence's (SCIE) mission is to identify and spread knowledge about good practice to the large and diverse social care workforce and support the delivery of transformed, personalised social care services. It aims to reach and influence practitioners, managers and the sector leadership who have responsibility for service delivery in adults' and children's services. Cornwall Sports Partnership:The Cornwall Sports Partnership (CSP) is an affiliation of organisations that have joined forces to make sport a part of everyday life in Cornwall. LIBRARY:The Vetting and Barring Scheme Guidance - March 2010 - The new Vetting and Barring Scheme aims to protect children and vulnerable adults by ensuring that people who are judged to present a risk of harm are not allowed to work with them. It does this by improving the way barring decisions are made. In the past, barring decisions have been taken by Ministers and civil servants. They are now made by an independent body of experts, the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA), and follow a clear and structured judgement process, which is about assessing the risk of future harm based on the information that is known about the individual(see page 3 of this document). ISA Referral Guidance - This document contains information about the scope of the Scheme, barring arrangements, responsibilities and duties for both employers and volunteer organisers, and the duties for those individuals you take on, timescales for the phased implementation of the Scheme and explanation of transitional arrangements around Scheme introduction. It will also have details about areas where the Scheme does not apply and discussions around the points made by Sir Roger Singleton in December 2009. The referral form has also been published and instructions for completing it are available in the ISA Referral Guidance. MAPPA Guidance 2009 - MAPPA (Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements) are the statutory arrangements for managing sexual and violent offenders. MAPPA is not a statutory body in itself but is a mechanism through which agencies can better discharge their statutory responsibilities and protect the public in a co-ordinated manner.
